Circa 2010. Felt like uploading something a little seasonal, as it’s been snowing nonstop since Sunday morning here in Montreal. Cheers and happy winter! Now to crack open the eggnog… ;)

Oil Painting: Love & Passion
It has been a busy two weeks, but as I made a promise to myself to post something at the very least biweekly (or do my best, anyway), I’ve sifted through some older art and came up with this diptych. The two pieces currently hang above my buffet, and remain to this day a couple of my most popular oil paintings. They, as I’ve had to explain on many occasions, are not for sale.
Entitled “Love” for obvious reasons. Gotta have my morning coffee ;)
Tea, I find, is more of a “Passion” than love; at least in my case. In fact, I have an entire area inside my buffet reserved for my collection, and tea gadgets galore strewn about the kitchen. Coffee-related tech? Just the maker.
Now, back to work! Have a fabulous day, all! :)
Character Design: Digital Fun
It’s been a while since my last post (a sudden surge at work + Easter will do that…)! Started two new courses at Syn Studio this semester; 3D Fundamentals & Character Design. Both are purely digital-based, so expect more of that medium from now on. Nothing much to show 3D-wise for the time being, but here are a couple of quick concepts I created during my character design class. The above started off as an ‘astronaut’, evolved into an alien, then finally took a turn for the… um… aquatic monstrosity, I guess. I experimented with the posterize effect at somepoint, hence the blocky shapes.
For lack of a better name, here’s a ‘Crystal Goblin’, hunched over due to the weight he(it?) carries and the heaviness of its crystal footsteps. The design is a bit messy and could definitely use some polishing, but this is what I got done in class.
Thanks for looking, have yourselves a merry little day! :)
Advanced Anatomy: Ink Wash
a.k.a. I don’t know what the nuggets I’m doing! Today’s class was pretty exciting; I had my first experience with ink washing! Above is my first attempt; all I can do is shake my head and shrug… gotta start somewhere!
